This is truly how I feel about my personal Journey. I am just an average Jane, married with two kids.
I started running about two years ago. There was no deep down desire to start running. I never dreamed of being an elite athlete. The deciding factor for choosing this sport was it is simple to run. I did not need to depend on anyone, I did not need a lot of expensive equipment, and I could look on the internet and see how to train.
I thought it would be really fun to do something “extraordinary” for my 40th birthday, so I trained and I ran the Horsetooth Half Marathon two years ago in April. It was probably the coolest thing I have ever done! The atmosphere was incredible. You had runners that would stand at the top of the hill and encourage us newby’s up the hill. When I ran across the finish line it was an emotional reaction. All that hard work paid off…
So fast forward two years. Last year the majority of my time was spent adjusting to being an empty nester. Our youngest daughter went into the Navy. Our oldest is married, has babies and lives in Nebraska. So to get out of the fog, I have decided this year that I want to run a marathon. This is what this blog is about. The ups and downs of this journey, and maybe get some people who were on the fence about a new exercise program. I will be touching on all aspects of marathon training including: eating tips, ideas on how to relieve muscle aches (IcyHot is my best friend EVER) and maybe get some ideas from other people who are reading this blog.
I hope you enjoy being a part of my training- I could use all the support I can get. After all I am not a trained athlete. I am just an average Jane.
